A mechanical owl operated by a mouse? I like it. I don’t think the owl on this shirt is meant to represent every owl and imply that they are all beasts operated by rodents – at very least I think owls would eat fewer rodents – but the king part implies that perhaps the owls are following a false leader. Though, in this case, they’d still probably eat fewer mice. So maybe this is just a fluke of a steampunk owl (it wouldn’t be the first time). (Available at Threadless)
I got the title of this shirt (“where dreams come true”) confused with that Robin Williams movie (which to be fair comes from The Bard), but beyond that it’s a pretty cool shirt. Watercolor looking design of some kind of re-imagining of the Wizard of Oz, I’m sure Mr. Baum would be proud. The cowardly lion looks to be some kind of hunter, more of a person with a lion’s head than the standard anthropomorphic version of him seen in the movie, the Tin Man looks like a crazy futuristic android, and the scarecrow reminds me of a mix between Gene Kelly and Jack Skellington, if there is such a thing. Not sure what it’s all supposed to mean (hopefully not a reference to the SciFi channel miniseries, which was not good), but Dorothy seems to be in good hands on this t-shirt. Or at least, better hands than the last time I posted a shirt about her adventures. (Available at Threadless)
No shirt this post (at least right now, give me a minute and I’ll satiate your apparel needs), just wanted to point out that Threadless is having a $9 t-shirt sale for the next day or so. Nine bucks is pretty cheap for these things, so check it out.
Perfect for the photographer looking for a t-shirt that says “yes, I am a photographer”, this aperture shirt makes a great gift. Because really, who else but someone who looks through a camera as a serious hobby or perhaps profession would want to look like the aperture of a lens? For such a person, though, how great of a shirt is this? (Available at Threadless)
Canadians rejoice! A shirt representing all that is Canada. Well, there’s no maple leaves on here or anything. Plus, I don’t know a ton about Canada, so there’s probably more than geese and mounties. Still, this is two Canadian things, and they have those weird two dollar coins there, so two seems an appropriate numbers. I do know Canadian Geese, and I know Mounties, so the combination of the two seems kind of inevitable, right? (Available at Threadless)
Much as saying the name of this shirt, “Sad Psycho”, gets a Red Hot Chili Peppers song stuck in my head, I do love the shirt. The poor, almost adorable, child-like psycho, dragging its bloody chainsaw like a toddler drags a teddy bear .. just awesome. I didn’t even know they made those old scary hockey masks in child sizes, either. (Available at Threadless)
I really like the image on this shirt. The moonlit silhouette of looks to be a woman, gazing out of some kind of window thing, out into an urban landscape. And I mean moonlit.. look at that thing! The title says all alone, so I’m not so sure if it’s supposed to evoke desolate feeling despite the assumed urban activity, I just think it looks pretty awesome. And what’s the deal with the awesome window shape? Is that a giant window with security bars on it or something? (Available at Threadless)
There’s never been a hunt for animals quite like this. Well, that’s probably not true, I imagine there are actually loads of word search puzzles with animal names in them. Still, this shirt is pretty awesome – a giant word search with a ridiculous number of animals hidden on it, the all-over printing on this shirt makes for some fun conversation. After all, who doesn’t want other people poking and poring over their entire body looking for secrets? (Available at Threadless)
Oh, green army guys. So ridiculously simple, so embedded in many boy’s childhoods. I think there’s just something to say about toys that you can buy by the pound, or by the hundred, or however they came. This shirt shows our standard old green army man using his famous flat board of a base as an opportunity to try out some skateboarding tricks. The kick flip being an obvious choice – take that, enemy green army men! (Available at Threadless)
Wow, the Dorothy on this shirt isn’t quite the same Dorothy Gale from the movie or the books, is she? Pretty fierce, cutting up her old friend the Cowardly Lion like that – in the end, it seems like he had a reason to be scared after all, didn’t he? I also see some wrist bands that look pretty similar to how the wrists of a man made out of tin might look..
I would be remiss if I also didn’t mention that the title is also a (likely unintended) reference to a good song, as well. (Available at Threadless)
This is, indeed, a very Dark Raven. If Darth Vader were a bird, I suppose can see him as a raven. The Death Star moon in the background definitely makes the shirt, though.. very sinister. Or dark, as it were. (Available at Threadless)
I’m not sure what the schematic looking diagram is supposed to represent, but it’s electronic-ey and looks cool. Plus, the image of the space man done in the lighter ink looks awesome, too. Plus, the astronaut glows. And it’s well established how I feel about things that glow .. they are always a win. So, this shirt may be titled “Failed Launch”, but it’s a success for me! (Available at Threadless)
Uh-oh. Alfred Hitchcock‘s gonna be pissed! One of his more famous creations come back on this shirt to bite him on the .. head, as it were. Right on his forehead, even. That’s no good. I suppose it’s better than when the birds originally came around, though. (Available at Threadless)
Jelly bears in the wild! Warn the campers! I don’t think the wild jelly bears seen on this shirt would pose much of a threat, actually. I think they would be tasty, and do gummi bears (as we all know the shirt references) actually eat? And what would a Gummi Bear eat, if a Gummi Bear could eat? I don’t think people. So, we’re safe, and potentially full of delicious candy, if we want to go hunting. (Available at Threadless)
3D! Sort of. The faux 3D on this shirt isn’t quite the same as the 3D you can seem in some recent blockbusters, but I believe that’s kind of the point. While I can’t complain when the things on the screen jump out at me, part of me does think fondly back to the days of red and blue glasses, when the 3D really did look like crap. Not to mention, as I wear glasses, it’s always slightly uncomfortable and I feel like I’m getting less of an experience than many. I should probably wear contacts to these things, I guess. (Available at Threadless)
I think it’s safe to say that when your coffee cup starts talking to you, you’ve had too much coffee. Still, if my mug did perk up (I’m sorry!) and speak to me, I feel like the least it could do would be to take responsibility for all of the coffee ring stains that mark my desk as that of someone without Windex and with an unhealthy appetite for caffeine. Though the little coffee cup does look a little too proud of the stains to really be taking responsibility .. I guess it’s coffee’s equivalent of writing your name in wet sand or something. (Available at Threadless)
Evil Care Bears! With spray paint, stars that appear to be for more harm than love, mohawks, tattoos, sunglasses, and a menacing pose with a baseball bat, the Care Bears on this shirt are not to be trifled with. I’m pretty sure these not-so-lovable bears would tear right through Care-a-lot, and I don’t even want to know what terror their Care Bear Stare would produce. I never knew Care Bears could be feral, but there they are. (Available at Threadless)
Classic video games, traditionally one of my biggest weaknesses, and this shirt is no exception. You see the ubiquitous four-brick blocks falling from the sky while playing Tetris, but where do they really come from? This shirt proposes that perhaps their origin is more sinister than a clumsy mason dropping the tools of his craft. Sawblades cut apart classic video game icons (a space invader, a ghost, and a Koopa Troopa are featured, and their alarm is palpable) into the familiar shapes for our Tetrical amusement. Ouch!
