Robot shirt! Giant robot, in fact. I’m sure it’s no coincidence that this giant robot standing over a night forest bears a striking resemblance to The Iron Giant – there’s no reason not to pay homage to an amazing amazing movie, right? I think that’s all that needs to be said on this one, it’s an Iron Giant t-shirt. Yep. (Available at Threadless)
Seriously.. that bear will mess you up. Smokey the Bear (apparently, he’s officially “Smokey Bear”, but that’s news to me) has always been at the forefront of the fight on forest fires. Yes, I enjoyed getting to write that. Anyway, I grew up with the image of him telling me that only I could prevent forest fires – which at the time I didn’t entirely understand. I realised that I was a child, and I wasn’t really sure why they would give me – a child who rarely ventured into the forest – all of this fire fighting power. At some point I suppose I came to the conclusion that Smokey was speaking to all children individually, but regardless of how he went about it, he did reinforce some bits of fire safety. Well, other than the phase most boys go through where they enjoy lighting things on fire. Fire is pretty cool. Oh, the shirt! Right. This violent and aggressive side of Smokey isn’t one I really remember, but if the man (or, I should say, the bear) wants to really hammer his point home to children who won’t listen, sometimes a wallop with a shovel is the only answer. Most bears would use their claws, but not Smokey – this shirt shows how civilized he truly is. (Available at Threadless)
This is terribly dark and mysterious for a t-shirt! Veiled in this wash of deep blood red color, there’s what looks to be a lady on this shirt approaching some kind of structure or constructed something-or-another, just to see or not see a giant ghost-like being in the distance. Very creepy, very awesome. (Available at Threadless)
Jelly bears in the wild! Warn the campers! I don’t think the wild jelly bears seen on this shirt would pose much of a threat, actually. I think they would be tasty, and do gummi bears (as we all know the shirt references) actually eat? And what would a Gummi Bear eat, if a Gummi Bear could eat? I don’t think people. So, we’re safe, and potentially full of delicious candy, if we want to go hunting. (Available at Threadless)
Well, it’s not quite your standard abduction, but it still does seem a little bit wrong. The deer are being abducted up to the alien ship from their home in the forest by the standard bright column of light with a tractor beam type pull, but hey – I guess this is maybe just how aliens hunt? I’m surprised I haven’t posted this shirt before. I’m not sure that nature and a city can coexist quite this well, even given crazy things like New York’s Central Park, but I do think it’s a nice thought. And the little forest animals at the feet of the skyscraper not tree things seem to be enjoying themselves, so maybe why not? (Available at Threadless)
I can’t believe I didn’t post this shirt before, I’m almost sure that I did. Anyway, simple concept, the organic jungle mirrored underneath the urban (or stone, in this case) jungle. Tall buildings turn into tall trees and the airplanes overhead become birds. I could swear I posted this before.. (Available at Threadless)
This pretty awesome looking shirt shows some cute forest creatures (a wolf, a porcupine, some kind of lizard, a raccoon, a monkey..) watching an owl project the moon onto the night sky. Their movie screen of a cloud clearing frames their “scene” from the rest of the empty blue shirt – cool looking design. (Available at Threadless)
Not to be confused with the Adam Sandler movie, this shirt with a little boy leaning back on a friendly bear in the middle of the woods is pretty awesome. It reminds me of Where the Wild Things are or My Neighbor Totoro – where traditionally ferocious forest creatures are friendly to the small children that find them. Well, maybe the bear and the raccoon – I’m not sure bunnies and tweety birds are ever ferocious. (Available at Threadless)
I can’t believe I haven’t posted this before, being one of those “these things are awesome separately, so I can put them together for an awesome shirt” things (see a previous example of this). Either way, it’s just what it says, this shirt features some hot woman in bikinis, holding guns and flamethrowers, drinking, riding wolves in the middle of a dark forest. Not much more to say than that, right? (Available at Threadless)
The hills aren’t alive with the sound of music, but the sound of animals. This shirt depicts the little woodland creatures as furry little bits of adorable. While I’m not sure that meeting the bear shown in the middle would be quite the cute experience it appears on this shirt, it’s a funny little shirt. (Available at Threadless)
I always suspected that owls were considered wise because of their big eyes. They see everything, perched atop a tree branch, and become wise beyond their years (and I think they live a long time). It turns out, maybe they’re just learned animals and got smart because they’ve studied a bunch. All of those books (and a globe! Impressive for a woodland creature!) led to their superior intellect. This kind of reminds me of the forest shirt from a week or two ago, that I was also a big fan of. (Available at Threadless)
I love this image, the silhouette of the forest animals in a forest animal is just gorgeous. Snakes, birds, wolves, frogs, they’re all there, and the only spotlights are the stars and the animal’s eyes. Fantastic. (Available at Threadless)
How did I not notice at first that this was some glow in the dark action? I thought it was pretty cool and pondered posting it, but decided I had already thrown a bunch of shirts up that day already and that I’d let it go for at least a week.
Then I came back in the morning and realised that you only see the ghost in the dark? That’s fantastic. Apologies for being dumb. (Available at Threadless)
